Taycan Launch - Bridging Hardware and Users Through a WeChat H5 App
Porsche Taycan
WellPal Creative (WPC) was commissioned by Red Rabbit, an animation and development company, to design and build a WeChat H5 app for Porsche's Taycan launch in China. WPC's role was to create a bridge between the physical and digital realms, connecting users with the in-store Taycan-branded pinball machines installed for promotional purposes.
The objective
To facilitate an engaging, interactive experience where users could play the pinball machine, compete on a leaderboard, and win prizes. The challenge lay in seamlessly integrating the physical pinball machine experience with the digital app, making the transition intuitive and enticing for users.
The approach
WPC utilized its WellPal Signature Visuals™ to create an immersive interface that would guide users through the process. During idle mode, the pinball machine’s LCD screen displayed brand videos about the Taycan. Between each video, a 10-second animation with a QR code, designed by WPC, encouraged users to scan and play the game. Scanning the QR code led users to the WeChat H5 app, where they could unlock the pinball machine by pressing a start button designed to mimic an engine ignition, enhancing the user experience.
Once in the app, users were presented with a series of introductory screens explaining the game’s objectives. The same information was also displayed on the pinball machine’s LCD screen, ensuring a consistent experience across both platforms. After playing, users could view their leaderboard placement and any rewards won on the app’s first page. WPC designed this interface to be simple and intuitive, keeping in mind the fast-paced setting of the game.
The app also included additional features to enhance user engagement. Users could view daily leaderboards, find other locations with Taycan Pinball, and switch between daily, weekly, monthly, and all-time leaderboards. If a player won a reward, a reward ticket would be displayed on the main leaderboard page, with instructions on how to claim it.
