Product introduction
The WellPal JTBD cards are a tool I designed for use with my clients and may own brands.
JTBD helps you know when it does and doesn’t make sense to change your product. Your product might be fine the way it is. Any further investment might only increase your costs of production. JTBD also helps you understand the opportunity costs: What happens when you don’t invest in new products, even if it means cannibalizing existing offerings.
JTBD’s single intent is to understand how and why customers struggle. It tells you about the way things are, not what you should do about it. It is descriptive, not prescriptive.
Easy oversight of designing the JTBD and value proposition of brands and companies.
They are also very convenient to use when mapping your competitor landscape.
By having each structural aspect in 1 card it helps to move them around and get a feel of how the framework comes to live.
It is not a magic cheatsheet. It is simply a tool in our bigger toolkit for building a proper brand strategy.
They don’t offer strategies on what to innovate on or sell, but they equip us with a structured language and principles of customer motivation.
If we plan this properly, that can can in turn shape our strategy much more effective and easy.
That said, they help me a lot so I want to offer them to those who subscribe to my content for free.
I recommend you to use them in any app such as GoodNotes5 or print them out. Consider them elements in a framework.
When adding them in GoodNotes5 it’s very convenient to write on the cards and erase or duplicate when needed.
After you’ve played around with them and are confident you have gotten down to the true “JOB TO BE DONE” for your customers, you can start shaping the “JOB STORY FRAMEWORK”.
